Around 100 colour reproductions of original paintings by Michael Turner illustrate this excellent history of the RAF. Forewords by both the artist and Raymond Baxter are followed by the story of RAF aircraft evolution, starting with World War I and continuing through to the modern jet age. This book was originally released in 1981 and, through Michael Turner’s paintings, told the story of the RAF up until that point. The book was reprinted twice in this format in the early 1980’s and again in 1995. In 2003 the RAF Benevolent Fund Enterprises (an organisation dedicated to raising funds for the various RAF charities) released a completely revised and updated version. Some sections were removed, but many more were added, with new paintings by the artist to bring the story up to date.
